Introduction: The central processing unit is the unseen part of computer system. But users are very much aware of the input and the output associated with the computer. The submit input data to the computer to get processed information, the output.





 Input devices

Input devices: An input device is a sort of hardware that is used to send data in a computer system and it allows device to control the system or interact with the system. 
Most commonly used or primary input device is keyboard and mouse. however there are more devices which is also used as a input device as well. some examples: Audio conversion device, bar code reader, Bio metric, business card reader, EEG, game pad  joystick, paddle, Gesture recognition, Light gun, light pen, magnetic stripe reader, microphone, VR, webcam and many more..



Keyboard – This is one of the most necessary input device. It does have the function keys, control keys, arrow keys, keypad and the letters in the keyboard and command. So by this we control the computer by this.  

Mouse – This the output device which is used to control cursor.  It does have two types. one is wired and another is wireless mouse.  It allows the user to do the following:
  • Select
  • Scroll
  • Open or execute a program
  • Drag-and-drop
  • Hover
  • works other functions with the use of some additional buttons
A laptop uses a touch pad as the mouse.  A smartphone and tablet use a touchscreen as primary input device and the user’s finger is used as the mouse.
Microphone – It allows the user to input audio trough the computer. Here are some uses of the microphone:


  • Audio for video
  • Computer gaming
  • Online chatting
  • Recording musical instruments
  • Recording voice for dictation, singing and podcasts
  • Voice recorder
  • Voice recognition
  • VoIP – Voice over Internet Protocol 


Digital Camera – is an input device what takes pictures in digital way. Images are stored  on memory cards.  It has an display that allows users to preview and review images.  Digital cameras have become popular over film cameras because of the following features:
  • LCD screen – allows users to view the photos and videos immediately
  • Storage – can store thousands of pictures
  • Picture development – allows user to picking photo to develop
  • Size – easily carried because of small size.
Scanner – is an input device which reads a paper or  image , then converts it into a digital file. Scanner keep connected trough USB cables.  There are different types of scanners:
  • Flatbed scanner – uses a flat surface to scan documents
  • Sheet-fed scanner – like a laser printer where paper is fed into the scanner
  • Handheld scanner – the scanner is dragged over the page to be scanned
  • Card scanner – for scanning business card

 Touchscreen – is an input device that allows users to interact with a computer using their fingers. This attached with laptop monitors, smartphones, tablets, cash registers and information kiosks.  Most common functions of touchscreens are as follows:
  • Tap
  • Double-tap
  • Touch and hold
  • Drag
  • Swipe
  • Pinch


Bar code Reader – also known as barcode scanner or point of sale (POS) scanner, is an input device capable of reading barcodes.

Webcam – This is connected with computer trough USB cables or attached with frame of monitor.

Bio metric devices – is an input device used to input biometric data into a computer. Here are the types of biometric devices:
  1. Face scanner
  2. Hand scanner
  3. Finger scanner
  4. Voice scanner


Stylus – is a pen-shaped input device used to write or draw on the screen of a graphic tablet or device. Initially it was just used for graphic tablets and PDAs, but now, it has become popular on mobile devices as a replacement for the user’s fingers.  It’s used for more accurate navigation and to keep oils from user’s fingers off the device screen.

Monitor- monitor is the most common output device. Monitor comes with various size, design, colors. 

Printer – It generates the hard copy by processed data. The computer transmits the image, documents, data trough the printer, then it comes out as a hard copy.

Speakers – This is used for output of sound of a computer. speaker needs sound card in computer .Speakers can have multi output devices tom surround sound.
Headset – This is just a combination of speakers and microphone.It is actually used for communication, listening songs, playing games etc.

Projector – This is a short of display device what create light image from computer.  this is normally used for presentation , viewing videos. The computer transmits the image data to the video card, then it sends to the projector.

   

 Output Device

Output Device: An output device is any device used to send data from a computer to other device or user. Most output device is used by human is monitor, speaker, projectors, printers. Example of output device:

Computer ethics: These are defined as the analysis of the nature and social impact of computer technology and justification of policies for ethical use of technology. The typical [problem problem with the computer ethics is policy gap what is arise from the new capabilities of the technology. These are a system which acts are judged within their contexts instead of by categorical principals also known as situational ethics. Respect Others: For respecting other we do have to follow some commandments of computing ethics. Thou shalt not to use in computer harming other person. Not to copy others software or application which are paid. Never use a computer for bearing false witness. Have to use the computer in a way that can ensure consideration and respect other humans.
